Catch Phrase Cafe

Last week while taking my lunch break I realized I was craving a cookie.. So of course seeing as I work right across the street from the library, I knew that I needed to come to Catch Phrase to get that cookie! Without a doubt some of the best homemade cookies in town, I tried their chocolate chip and Christmas sugar cookie, both equally yummy! It was also a very cold windy day and after having my hair blown every which way while walking there, I decided I probably should get some soup as well. Soup of the day- loaded baked potato- and by that I mean I can die now it was so good! Seriously I've never had such a good potato soup I could have ate the whole pot..! Here is a photo which does not do it justice, but you try it anyways, in fact you should just go check out Catch Phrase now! The only downer I have about the place is they need more seating, but while chatting with the owner one day she told that is something they are working on, so hopefully soon there will be more places to sit and enjoy this great cafe!

A Christmas Tradition

Last night my family celebrated the decorating of our tree. We have done this every year for as long as I can remember, and I absolutely love it! We always have boiled shrimp, pigs in a blanket, cheese dip, and snicker doodles.. While we snack on the yummy appetizers we get all our ornaments out and slowly load the tree up till it looks like Christmas! This year it was just my parents, my brother and I, but sometimes we invite a couple close friends to enjoy this tradition with us! I think this time was one of my favorites, so many good talks and laughs with my family, they are the best!

Curly Art

This morning I happened to be on facebook at the same time as my dear friend Claire Russell, a friend whom I met while working in Palermo, Sicily! May I just say here Claire, I miss our silly adventures together, our giggles over boys, and apertivo, you made my time in Palermo so much better!  And just so all of you know out there not only is she is an awesome friend, she is an awesome artist, check out her work - http://www.clairejrussell.com/ ! One day when I get some money saved up I hope to visit that beautiful city again and see my friends I made there, until that day though I shall just have to hear about it from Claire!
Here is one of Claire's paintings.

Nacho Mama's

Last night was a typical Wednesday night for me, which means ultimate frisbee and Nacho Mama's. Brrr... I actually wore long pants and long sleeves for the whole game of ultimate, which is rare for me, but I was just too cold, every breathe of air was like an icy painful blast to my lungs! We played for a solid two hours and I'm thankful for the exercise, but at the end I was ready for some food, and being a Wednesday night we always go to Nacho Mama's. I was of course craving something unhealthy, ready to undo all that exercise, but cheese dip and chips were sounding soo good! My friend ordered the sunburn house nachos and added shrimp to it, may I just say wow! He was kind enough to let me try them, they were kind of amazing, the mango habanero salsa just makes the flavor, and I now have a new favorite thing to order them! Nacho Mamas Burritos Incorporated on Urbanspoon

Here's to a real mug!

Today is beautiful out, today I feel inspired to start a blog! I rolled out of bed feeling groggy and realizing that I had woken up too late to take a shower before my 9:00 a.m. coffee date! So, I quickly pulled my hair up into a barely ponytail, my hair is not long enough yet to survive a ponytail yet without the aide of many bobby pins and hairspray. I threw on a t-shirt, jeans, scarf, and hit the road! Made it right on the dot of 9:00, my friend had of course arrived early and treated me to breakfast, always a pleasant surprise! We met at The Inner Bean, Inner Bean on Urbanspoon  if you haven't checked it out you should! It has an a small menu, but everything is delicious, my favorite is the asparagus wrap, also they have a great seating area up front with tables, and then in the back a couch section! We had breakfast food this morning though, and she had the the breakfast bowl while I had the breakfast burrito with salsa, soo very yummy! I also love that they serve there coffee in real mugs, most coffee places nowadays don't seem to do that sadly. I wish that they would, it's saves on so much trash, money, and frankly coffee just doesn't taste as good coming out of paper! I'm also someone who enjoys sitting, relaxing and just enjoying time with someone or a book while drinking my coffee. I think people who prefer paper cups must always be in a rush! So, here's to a real mug, take the time to enjoy your coffee, it's good to sit and be still for bit.
